Fans get ready for Sivaji

No doubt Rajinikanth is a phenomenon in Tamil cinema. His fans watch closely every movement of their sought-after hero.  With the release for his magnum opus Sivaji nearing, avid fans of Rajinikanth have started to campaign to ensure the movie's success at the box office.

At several places, the fans associations have been conducting special prayers for the movie's success.

With 14 April fast approaching, they have planned to organise several programmes to coincide with the movie's release.

Say a section of fans, "We believe that 14 April is a lucky date for Rajinikanth. His biggest ever hit film, Chandramukhi, was released on 14 April and managed a successful 600-day run. We are confident that Sivaji releasing on the same date would go on to break the record."

"All his earlier movies for AVM Production have become blockbusters. The presence of big names like director Shankar, music composer AR Rahman and cinematographer K V Anand is a boost to his prospects," they say.

Sivaji has been a great experience : Shriya

Shriya
Saran is reveling in the limelight of power that’s zooming in on her. She is
the red hot heroine in Kollywood after she signed Shankar’s Sivaji
with superstar

Rajnikanth
. Today Kollywood is her oyster. She has signed films with
Vijay and Vikram two of Tamil film industry’s top stars- Azhagiya Tamizh
Magan
and Kandasamy respectively . As of now, Shriya is basking
in the glory of Tiruvilayadal Arambham a surprise super hit that
resurrected the career of its hero Dhanush. Since then all young guns in the
industry wants to do a film with the ‘Lucky lady”, but she has been politely
refusing.

Shriya has a flawless skin, perfect figure, beautiful smile
that will melt any heart and has a touch of class. She is a trained Kathak
dancer and is literature graduate from the prestigious Lady Shriram College
in

New Delhi
. Her mother is Neerja Saran, a former chemistry teacher at
India’s best school, the Delhi Public school (DPS) Mathura Road, Delhi. Now
Shriya’s family including her brother Ahiroop who recently got married has
relocated to

Mumbai
. Shriya is a voracious reader and can talk about anything
under the sun. Her favourite authors are
Paulo
Coelho
the Brazilian writer and Brian L. Weiss the noted psychatrist
and author. Moviebuzz met Shriya over breakfast at `The Park` hotel
in
Chennai
. The pretty actress in conversation..

What is the secret of your beauty? You look a
million bucks these days…

Thank you (Smiles). In fact my favourite meal of the day is
breakfast. I have an egg white omelette, porridge and paratha. For
lunch I have plain roti with Dal and Bhindi Indian style. Sometimes
I take fish and I love Chennai as fresh fish is available here. My
favourites are Andhra, Malabar or Goan fish curry. I don’t touch red
meat nor am I very fond of chicken. But basically I eat well.

So, you are a foodie?

Yeah..I enjoy good food and Thai cuisine is my personal favourite. I
never eat junk food though I love Subway stuff!

But how do you manage to look so thin?

I am 54 kilos. I eat well and work out too. I am passionate about my
workouts in gyms atleast for 45 minutes every day. I believe that
it’s not keeping body in shape but it’s fitness that matters the
most.

How where you chosen to be the Sivaji
heroine, the most coveted role in south Indian cinema?

(A broad smile) One day, I got a call from Shankar sir who said he
had seen me in Mazhai. He said that he was impressed by my
looks and performance. He asked me if I were interested in being

Rajnikanth
’s heroine in Sivaji. I could not believe it
and immediately said ‘Yes’. Then I came down to

Chennai
, met Shankar sir who said that I don’t need any
make-up or screen test. He also gave me some DVD’s of Rajni sir’s
films and I watched all of them. I believe that it was destiny that
Sivaji came my way.

Can you elaborate on your experience of working
with Shankar

He is a perfectionist and my role is very good. I have never worked
with another director who goes for such detailing as he wants
everything to be picture perfect. Before the shoot dialogues were
e-mailed to me so that I could prepare myself. He conceptualizes
everything, even minute details including costume and colour
schemes. And the best thing is that he gives freedom to his artists
to express their views, which I feel is good as he does not mind
incorporating them.

Tell us about your character in Sivaji?

(Screams) Oh No…. Shankar sir will kill me! Ok… now that the film is
ready for release, I’ll give you a preview of my role. Don’t ask for
more. I play a bubbly happy character full of beans.

What is your character name?

My character name is Tamizh and I wear Pavada-Dhavani. I am
there in four out of five songs which are amazingly tuned by
A.R.Rahman. I love dancing which everyone says comes naturally to
me. Please don’t ask me anything further about the film (smiles).

Let’s change tracks… How was it working with
superstar

Rajnikanth
?

Rajni sir is truly the living legend of Indian cinema. I have never
seen so much awe and respect among people for an actor like Rajni
sir has. At airports, hotels and other places all over the world,
people come up and ask me- “Sir epiddi irukku? To be honest, Rajni
sir’s heroines can piggy-back ride on his popularity. Thanks to him,
I’m getting so much of attention and respect from the masses and the
industry.

As a person how is he?

Rajni sir is the nicest human being that I have come across in life.
Always willing to help others and he has so much of patience and his
knowledge is vast. He is like a search engine as he has an answer to
all your queries. When we were in

Spain
, none of us knew anything about the country. But sir
knew all customs and even the political history of the place on his
finger tip. He is the most chilled out, down-to-earth, well read
person that I have ever met in life.

How was it working with

Rajnikanth
the actor?

Sir will explain the importance and significance of each scene
before the shoot. And when the shot is ok but he finds that I am not
comfortable, he will go for a retake. And when I do a scene well, he
will clap and motivate me to do better. The kid in him is still
alive!

So you had a great time working with Sivaji
team?

Working with Shankar sir and Rajni sir was indeed an experience that
I will never forget in life. K.V.Anand the cameraman also helped me
a lot. Producer AVM Saravanan sir and his son Guhan and his two
lovely daughters had gone out of their way to make me comfortable.
It’s indeed been a nice experience.

What are your forthcoming films?

I am currently shooting with Vijay for Azhagiya Tamizh Magan
in which I play a college student. Then there is Kandasamy
with Vikram who is a fine actor. In Hindi I’m doing Awarappan
with Imraan Hashmi and let me tell you that there are no kissing
scenes (gives a naughty smile). I have also signed a film with

Bobby Deol
for director Sangeet Sivan. I will not be signing
any new Tamil films till my current assignments are over.

Rajini shares secrets with Shriya

Associating with a veteran most definitely means a lot of mentoring. And Shriya seems to have gone through just that during the shoots of Sivaji. Apart from shaking her booty with the superstar, she seems to have taken a few valuable advices from Rajinikanth on the sets of Sivaji during the breaks.
shriya
Looks like the superstar knowledge-transferred her some trade secrets. He advised her to deal with directors and producers directly while committing for movies since a middleman would mean trouble.

Having taken the advices seriously, Shriya seems to have applied those principles while deciding her future ventures. As a result, she has now Azhagiya Tamil Magan opposite Vijay and Kandasamy opposite Vikram.

See, advices do work. Ask Shriya.

"Sivaji" to be released on Tamil New Year's day

The production team of Rajnikant's next movie `Sivaji' has announced that the film will be released by Tamil New Year's Day.

Director Shankar, who is working with Rajnikant for the first time, is busy with post-production work. A.R. Rahman is occupied with the final mixing of songs.
`Sivaji' is production house AVM's 168th film and its ninth film featuring the super star.
Actor Suman plays the villain.
One song in the film is significantly different. Moving away from the normal method of shooting the sequence and then re-recording the music score, it combines a song and fight sequence. The team first shot the stunt sequence (using stunt artists), directed by stunt master Peter Hein.
It was then edited and processed. A.R. Rahman composed the background score for the sequence. Later, the scene was re-shot with Rajnikanth doing the `real stuff'.

The film's audio CD and cassettes will be released by mid-March. National award winner K.V. Anand handles the camera. M. Saravanan and M.S. Guhan are the producers. Director S.P. Muthuraman is joint producer. Vaalee, Na.Muthu Kumar and Pa.Vijay have written a song each while Vairamuthu has penned two songs.

Secrets of Sivaji

Now that Sivaji is reported to have wound up its shooting, reports about post production works have already begun.

And a Shankar movie is never a Shankar movie unless it has some breathtaking and interesting graphics work.

Sivaji too is going to be no exception.

Again, Shankar, the master of it all, has kept all the works secret.

The only piece of information that has trickled out is that there is a long graphics segment in which Rajinikanth will appear as a white man. This is going to be full graphics-induced (assuming that Shankar doesn't change it, as it has appeared in the media).

There is also considerable speculation as to where the graphics work will be done.

Some say that Shankar will do it in a state-of-the-art facility in Singapore. Some have suggested a big name in Mumbai. A few others talk of the US.

But nobody is sure.

Shankar has again kept the guessing game interesting.

"I am excited about my voice talking to Superstar"

We had earlier reported that Kadhal Sandhya would dub for Shreya in Sivaji. She is excited to share the silver screen with Superstar even if it is only through her voice. When Behindwoods correspondent approached the actress about the experience, "Rajini sir has a great voice.
Sandhya
There is a sense of authority in his voice. I am thrilled at the prospect of doing some dubbing work with him. I am sure this will be a learning curve for me", came the instant reply. Kadhal Sandhya is now setting her eyes on the awards and has decided to lend her own voice for all her movies irrespective of the language. Her recent release in Telugu saw Sandhya dub for herself. Though she is not fluent in Telugu she put in her extra effort to perfect it. She received special praise from the director Bhimaneni Srinivasa Rao for her work in "Annavaram" which is the remake of Vijay starrer Thirupachi directed by Perarasu. Pawan Kalyan was the lead and Sandhya played the role of his sister. Can current heroines in Tamil take a cue from Sandhya? Recently there was a row in Kerala when Padma Priya's comments on dubbing artists were misinterpreted and later she had to clarify her comments and render her public apology to the dubbing artists association. "I never said anything bad about dubbing artists. I know they are doing a good job and my comments were never meant to hurt them" she added. "I want to dub for myself and then only can I become a complete actress" said Padma Priya.

So the young crop of actresses does know the importance of dubbing for oneself.

Sivaji DVD released!

Shankar has not readied the first print of the movie yet, but there are rumors around that Sivaji's DVD is out already. Ridiculous, as it may sound, but with Karthik starrer Paruthi Veeran's illegal CD already seized from the black market before the movie hitting the screens, there are people who believe Sivaji's DVD is already out.
sivaji
Apparently, sources from the Sivaji stable slam the rumors as absurd. Reliable sources that watched the rushes of Sivaji so far suggested an exhilarating presentation in the anvil. Basically, the movie throws light into the scandals in educational institutions. But on the lighter side, the first half of Sivaji is a laugh riot and Rajini and Vivek's chemistry has worked wonders.

An elated Rajini is reportedly all praises for Shankar and the way Sivaji has shaped up. For the perfectionist Shankar is, Sivaji has all the aspects and more to excite an average moviegoer. Rahman's music, especially the title song - that was later decided to be added - has all the stuff to become a foot thumping chartbuster, sources suggest.

Come what rumors may, here is a complete package that is waiting to explode at the screens on the April 12.

Sivaji’s astounding Telugu rates

Looks like Sivaji will set the records straight at the Telugu box office as well. After selling for staggering rates in Kerala, the Telugu rights of the most expected mega movie of the year is being negotiated for a whopping 14 crores. If you might remember, earlier Rajini's Chandramukhi fetched a record 11 crores in its Telugu box office collections.
Sivaji
Rajini – Shankar – Rahman combination has raised the bar among fans and Telugu cinema could just not resist the temptation to obtain the rights. Besides, one of the central minister's names is being speculated – who is associated with a production company – among the top contenders for acquiring the rights.

Sivaji's shoots are being wrapped up in top gear for an April 14th release.
