Big B not in Sivaji

In fact, last year, Bachchan had also made a guest appearance in a
Kannada film Amrithvarsham. Ganga and Amrithvarsham are Big B's only
two stints in regional cinema. "I did the two guest appearances
because two dear friends asked me to. I was asked to do a cameo in
Rajnikanth's next Tamil project. But I declined as I didn't have the
time. Also learning a South Indian language is a huge responsibility
(in the Kannada film, he spoke English). I truly admire artistes from
Mumbai who act in South Indian films and also speak the language.
Rajnikanth and I are close friends and we have done films together.
I'd have loved to be in his film."

A sneak peek into Sivajis intro song

Yesterday we had reported to you about the intro song of Sivaji being sung by the veteran S P Balasubramanian. As per our promise to keep you updated on the same, here we go.

With the onset of the post Diwali schedule of Sivaji, the crew is geared up with all energy and is busy shooting in Pune. If you might remember, we carried reports about the luxurious bungalow there, where the climax of Sivaji is scheduled to be shot. Now the crew is in Pune for the opening song as well which is being penned by Na. Muthukumar – refer to our earlier reports on this too.

A coupe of days back, the intro song involving Rajni and Nayan was shot near a dam. It is also reported that more than 5,000 junior artistes were brought in from Tamilnadu for this specific song sequence.

Shankar known for his grandiose has revived the dying dance form of Tamil Nadu Viz. Mayilaatam, Oyilaatam and Karagaatam in this number, which is alleged to be a foot tapping number. The crew will be back in Chennai after canning the shoots in Pune for the next schedule, which is speculated to commence from November 14.

Sivaji, the mega attraction of the ensuing year 2007 is packed with all the possible features that the team Rajini, Shankar, and Rahman can assimilate. To add to the glamour quotient, the movie has Shreya, Nayantara, and Mallika Sherawat. It is indeed a five star feast for Rajni fans all over the world.

Rajini appears in seven roles in 'Shivaji'

The storyline of AVM's Rajini starrer "Shivaji" is at least out after months of speculation. The puja for the new project was performed last month. It is gathered that Rajini is to play multiple roles - at least seven in the film. The theme is about higher education and how it has been commercialised by interested parties, making it unaffordable for many. Director Shanker had already touched on this subject in 'Gentleman' which was a run-away success, and this time in "Shivaji", the subject will be gone into deeply with high=profile Rajini playing the central role with his wellknown aplomb and characteristic style. What inspired Shankar is said to be a recent real-life incident in which a former MP was done to death in a southern district of Tamil Nadu at the instance of an engineering college owner out of rivalry.

In "Shivaji", Rajini returns from abroad with the objective of establishing a college where he intends providing higher education charging the same fees as in government-run colleges do without capitation fees. He gets the backing of the State machinery in his venture. But the vested interests and the lobby controlling higher education are up in arms against Rajini and waiting to strike at him. In the meantime, the elections come and the ministry is voted out. With the new ministry being formed, anti-Rajini lobby becomes very active and makes things difficult for Rajini. With the result, the college project gets delayed and Rajini faces several hardships. He abandons the idea of taking legal steps and adopts his own methods to fight the lobby and he ultimately succeeds.

It is learned that Director Shanker himself outlined the story to his 20-odd assistants whom he has selected through an advertisement. The response to the ad was overwhelming and as many as 2000 applications were received. Shankar selected 20 of them after he heard from them how they would end the story.
A leading Mumbai-based portfolio photographer has shot the promos and publicity stills with Rajini and Shriya at a special set erected at a Mumbai studio. The teasers and promos are expected to be released in due course.
Meanwhile, it is reported that Rajini has directed his "Thalapathi" Satyanarayana not to participate in any functions of his fans till the State Assembly elections scheduled for May next year, are over in order to avoid unnecessary political controversies.

This Rajini's directive has come as a dampener to his multitude of fans who are planning to celebrate the actor's birthday on Dec.12 with great fanfare all over the State. The fans wanted to utilise the occasion also to give a boost to the making of "Shivaji" .

Vijay TV has undertaken to telecast the birthday celebrations of Rajini . To cheer up his fans, who are otherwise feeling downcast following Rajini's directive to their captain, Satyanarayana, to keep off all functions organised by fan clubs or individual fans, Vijay TV has sent 55-metre-long silk cloth banners to 'Rajini Rasigar Manrams' (fan clubs) in all the 30 districts asking them to collect signatures from the fans. The banners with the signatures will be displayed for Rajini who will view them as part of the celebrations.

S P B sings Sivajis opening song

After deliberations, it seems that Shankar has made his mind up to add the inevitable factor of Rajini movies – an opening song in Sivaji. Previously it was reported that Shankar and Rajini have decided against an introductory song.
S P Balasubramaniam

The opening song will be penned by the noted lyricist Na. Muthukumar who joins the list of veteran lyricists such as Vali, Vairamuthu, and Pa. Vijay in writing lyrics for Sivaji.

The song, which will be sung by S P Balasubramaniam, is supposedly a foot-thumping number unlike the philosophical opening numbers that Rajini’s movies showcase. It will have Nayantara shaking her booty with Rajini, as reported by us earlier.

Sources reveal that Shankar has requested the lyricists to keep their lips pursed on the songs of Sivaji. With media’s attention focused towards the mega movie, Shankar feels that any revelation of information will lead to the loss of suspense factor. Meaning, one has to wait till the release of Sivaji’s music. Well, we’ll update you on the scoop every now and then though.

Latest on Sivaji and the climax
Oct 17, 2006

Though the crew of Sivaji is enjoying a blissful boon of a break, there is no shortfall of news about the mega movie. Latest in the series is about the movie's storyline and the climax shoot location when the crew resumes its work. We have our birdie back with some hot news this time about the next year's visual extravaganza.

Sivaji

Sivaji's plot is based on a simple story line, to invest a single rupee and earn crores out of it. Nope, if you think the movie is something about gambling, you are grossly mistaken. The movie throws light on the hardships faced by an individual who decides to proceed with the construction of his building in the city. In the process he approaches the officials who fleece him for his money. Later the poor man faces with the nightmare of his life when the officials tear his building down. The story then takes off when the protagonist decides to challenge the odds of the system and come up in life in the process. It is also reported that the movie has influences from Shankar's real life. That makes it all the more interesting, what say?

Sivaji's climax will be shot in a plush bungalow in Pune. Earlier, Shankar decided to show Rajini's abode as an enormous bungalow. Considering the huge budget in erecting a mammoth setting and hiring the furnishings, it was decided to hire a bungalow in Pune owned by a wealthy businessman Avinash Bhosle. The bungalow demands a whopping 3 lakh as rental charges per day and many Hindi movies were shot in the location.

Sivaji songs unveiled

Sivaji
Eager to hear some news about Superstar’s Sivaji songs? Don’t you worry folks. We have got news. Reliable, first hand, and scoop. What more can you ask for? Credible sources revealed that Sivaji has 7 songs to its credit. All being pep songs with energetic beats from Rahman, they are sure to propel the movie’s music in the top position for a long time.

Out of the seven songs from Sivaji, we have got news about 5 numbers.
Va ji, Va ji, Sivaji…

This could be the opening song of the movie. Though it was decided earlier not to have Rajini’s entry into the movie with an introductory song, Shankar is contemplating with the thought of reinstating one such song. That could be it.

Unpeyar ennada…

As is the rule in Rajini’s movies, we presume that this is a philosophical number joining the likes of other famous songs of the same genre, which are quintessential for his movies.
Sivaji
Sivaji
Boom boom jee boom ba …

This most likely is the duet song with Shreya and Rajini in the lead. If that is true Rajini could be seen shaking his legs with Shreya either in the exotic European locations or simply in our neighbouring Karnataka.

Talla dimi takka dimi pucha..pyun pyun enna rastina..ho ra ho yenna rastina.. hoo haa..

Didn’t decipher a word of it, don’t you worry or be concerned about the plight of Tamil lyrics in songs. This song is Japanese and will be shot in Japan when the next schedule commences.
Adaal udan pesadha di.. en salangai ku bhadil solladi..

You might wonder what the old Vanjikottai Valiban song is doing in Sivaji’s song list. We assume that inspired by the hits the remix of old songs generate, Shankar has decided to embrace one such song. This song could be a climax song or just like the one in Padayappa where Ramyakrishnan challenges Rajini with her dance moves, but with the lead ladies.
Rajini
Stay tuned for more updates and we will enlighten you with more news when our reliable birdie coos news into our ears. Ciao.

Sivaji, Shreya and her jail connection

Shreya has grabbed quite a lot of public attention these days. Her celebrity status has soared to unbelievable levels owing to her part in Sivaji and her being cast opposite Rajini definitely did help a lot. Couple of years ago she could easily have passed off as just another college girl when she made her sidekick appearance in Unakku 18 Enakku 20. These days though, she is all over in news and is actually enjoying the attention that she gets.
Sivaji
She is busy shooting for Sivaji these days. Actually, only for Sivaji. Her contract with Shankar prevents her from committing to any other movies till the completion of Sivaji.

During the shoots of Sivaji, a scene demanded her to visit Rajini in the Jail. And if you thought the scene is to kindle the emotional feelings of the pair, you are perfectly wrong. The scene was rather a romantic song. The ones Tamil cinema always portrays, we guess. The meeting would most definitely have ended up in a duet in exotic locales in and around Europe.
Jokes apart, Shreya naively stated that she had never seen a jail in her entire life, not even a set of a jail. Well, she has seen one now. We are sure that was never in her wish list though.

It is a classic clash between Asin, Trisha and Nayantara

It is a classic clash in Kollywood between the reigning queens- Asin, Trisha and Nayantara to be Rajnikanth’s item girl for Sivaji!

Shankar in a hush-hush operation had approached all the three girls to do this item number with the superstar which is also his introductory song.

Trisha who is shooting for Selvaraghavan’s Telugu film in Hyderabad is reported to have politely refused as her biggest ambition is to be Rajni’s heroine in one of his future projects.
That leaves Asin and Nayantara in the race. The peppy fast number tuned by A.R.Rahman was played to both the actresses and the girls are very keen to shake a leg with the ultimate superstar of Indian cinema.

And according to industry buzz, Sivaji will open with this song and the audience are sure going to go ga-ga over this number.

Remember that some years back Shankar had picturised “Urvasi.,..Urvasi…” song from Kathalan as the opening scene and in Boys four minutes after the film starts, there was that hit number Enakkoru Boyfriend Venama...

And the director in an interview was quoted saying that “it is always the first song in the film that captures the attention of the viewers”.

There were some reports that there will not be an introductory song sequence for Rajnikanth in Sivaji. However, Rajnikanth without an introductory song is like “Idly without Sambar”!

It seems Shankar and Rahman finally sat together to work on this mind-blowing opening song which is sure to top the charts. And the heroine who does this number with Rajni is sure to get a tremendous reach with the masses.
Nayantara who already shares a great rapport with the superstar seems to be the front runner as the pair was a hit in Chandramukhi. But Asin is not far behind as she wants to be a part of a landmark film called Sivaji at any cost!

Big B starts shooting with Rajini for Sivaji

Sivaji shooting spot and the crew were awestruck when the big B of Indian cinema - Amitabh walked into the sets. Nope not as a visitor, but to be a part of the mega Rajini movie. Did we not tell you about the talks that were being carried out by Shankar to rope Amitabh in for Sivaji? Seems like the talks were fruitful and Amitabh has flown down from Mumbai to finish the shoots with Rajini in a Juvenile home in Chengalpattu.
Amitabh bachchan
Amitabh is cast as the mentor and a lawyer in the movie who helps Rajini during difficult times. Earlier, shoots were carried out in the Binny campus in Chennai in a set constructed to reflect a prison. Rajini's scenes as a prisoner were shot in the location and as a continuation Rajini and Amitabh's combination scenes were shot in Chengalpattu. The shots of Amitabh, playing a lawyer, counseling Rajini during his imprisonment were shot in Chengalpattu.

The crew seemed to be having the time of their life to be associated with the biggest name in movie business. Rajini seemed pleased that Amitabh has been brought in for Sivaji.
After the shots, Rajini was seen having a good time at the juvenile home mentoring the children. He advised them to have a positive attitude towards life quoting some of the juvenile kids who made it big in their life. He wished them all luck with their future.

With that Sivaji's shoots are almost reaching a closure and a community hall has been rented out in Chengalpattu for canning vital scenes of the movie. Shankar is slating the movie for an April 2007 release and witnessing the phase of the movie's progress, that is not too difficult a target to achieve.

Cop interrupts Sivaji shoot

Rajini's Sivaji suffered a minor setback and the shoots were
halted for a while owing to the confusion created by a cop. Sivaji is
progressing in and around Chennai city and the crew is busy shooting
vital parts of the movie with junior artistes in huge numbers in prominent
locations. Recently, Pulianthope had been the venue for the shoots and
scenes of Rajini being arrested by a cop were canned.

The crew is now busy shooting in a high school in the vicinity of
Pachayappas College. When the shoots were progressing with Rajini and
300 other junior artistes, a cop appeared and demanded for the
cancellation of shoots. The inspector stated that no permission has been obtained
by the crew for conducting shoots in the school. When the crew members
informed that prior permission had been obtained, the obstinate cop
insisted that the go-ahead should have been obtained from the Police
Commissioner Office.

This led to confusion among the crew and they exchanged verbal row with
the cop. After a while, Senior Police Officials were informed and the
chaos came to an end when the cop left the place. The shoots were
resumed afterwards.
Sivaji, being Rajini's venture after Chandramukhi has
created huge expectations among the public due to numerous factors such as
Shankar, Rajini's pepped up new look, Rahman's music, and Shreya. The
mega movie is slated for an early 2007 release and is expected to break
all the box office records that Chandramukhi created.
